Compassionate individuals who wish to support our seniors to age-in-place in their community by fostering friendship through regular home visits.

Minimally 6 months

FAQs
Q: What is my monthly commitment as a befriending volunteer?
A:  2 home visits and 2 phone calls per month at mutually convenient time arranged with the senior.

Q: How long must the home visit be?
A: The session should be within 1 hour to abide by the safe management measures.

Q: Will I need to be vaccinated to be a befriender?
A: As befrienders will be required to conduct in-person engagement with seniors, all befrienders need to be fully vaccinated*.

* Definition of full vaccination will be aligned with the latest official guidelines as stipulated by MOH and/or related agencies.

Q: I am not familiar with befriending, will training be provided?
A: Training on befriending will be provided to equip befrienders with effective communication skills.

Q: I am not available on some weeks due to some other personal arrangement; will I be able to be excused on those weeks?
A: We hope befrienders can commit regularly as it helps in building relationship with the seniors. However, we understand there might be personal or urgent matters to tend to at times. In such cases, we would appreciate befrienders to give advance notice to the Volunteer Co-ordinator so that we can make alternate arrangements.
