About the Activity
TOUCH Silent Club (TSC) is a service of TOUCH Community Services and it was launched in March 1993 to meet the needs of the Deaf community. We believe that every Deaf person, regardless of circumstances, race or religion, has the potential to be an integrated and contributing member of society.

We are looking for a volunteer with sign language knowledge to give 1-to-1 academic tuition to Deaf male youth on Saturday morning in person.

Suitable for
Volunteer who
- Knows basic sign language (e.g. alphabets & commonly-used words)
- Is familiar with Singapore Education curriculum (Primary school / Secondary school)
- Is comfortable with teaching in person
- Has patience and willingness to help the youth to develop to his fullest potential

Role Description
Mentor Deaf youth in English and Mathematics

Ensure the safety of the mentee(s) during the outing(s)

Minimum Age
21 years old

Commitment
Every Saturday mornings (except for Jun & Dec school holidays and public holidays) for at least 1 year

FAQs
Q: Do I need to know sign language?

A: As our mentees are Deaf and communicate in sign language, it will be good to know basic sign language – e.g. alphabets & commonly-used words.  

Q: Do I need to have teaching qualifications?
A: No, it is not compulsory. You should be comfortable in giving tuition for English and Mathematics. It will be good if you are familiar with Singapore education curriculum.
