Commemorating 30 Years of Good and Beyond

By TOUCH Community Services

TOUCH celebrates 30 years of Inspiring Hope and Transforming Lives in the community!

To commemorate this milestone, TOUCH is organising the Anniversary Celebration Fundraiser.

The Anniversary Celebration Fundraiser aims to raise $500,000 which will go towards funding programmes and services in support of some 229,000 lives served by TOUCH, including children, youths, families, people with healthcare and special needs, and the elderly. Through giving, you are planting the seed of hope in the lives of beneficiaries such as, Mr Roslan, Mdm Ong and Mr Pillai.

At TOUCH, we endeavour to empower every individual with the opportunity to shine and realise their fullest potential. We believe that Everyone Can be Someone.

Will you join us in making that goal a reality?

Here’s how you can help:

Mr Roslan, 55 was the sole breadwinner of his family and has three children, aged 14, 13 and six. He sustained serious back injuries which resulted in limited mobility due to a work accident and has been unable to work and provide for his family since early 2020. Nonetheless, Mr Roslan possesses a positive attitude and is keen to return to work. To support the family through this trying period, TOUCH provides the family with financial assistance, which helps with their daily living expenses. The financial assistance also helps cover the medical consultations for his youngest child who is diagnosed with autism. TOUCH has also been helping Mr Roslan with upskilling and expanding his job competencies to increase his chances of securing a job which is less physically laborious.

Mdm Ong Foo Chin, 81, faces memory loss and poor health, and has difficulties sorting out her range of medication. She needs to consume 14 pills in the day and 10 pills at night for multiple chronic conditions. She used to be anxious as she was worried that there wouldn't be anyone to care for her when her health deteriorates. Things changed when she was referred to TOUCH Home Care (THC). The staff of THC helped to sort and pack her pills into a pillbox so she would never miss her daily dose. In addition, THC provides Mdm Ong with Medical Escort and Transport service to relieve her of the stress of taking public transport.

As she has mobility issues due to osteoporosis, THC also arranged for meals to be delivered to her doorstep and helped to clean her one-room rental unit. Today, Mdm Ong feels contented. She hopes that more seniors would be able to receive help at home like she has.

Shoban Pillai, 42, was diagnosed with intellectual disability at 26 and needed help in taking care of himself. His aged mother, who suffers from multiple health issues, faced constraints caring for him. Shoban joined TOUCH Centre for Independent Living (TCIL)when he was 30 and learnt basic life skills such as self-care and cooking. He slowly opened up as he started making friends and also started taking art lessons under TOUCH SpecialCrafts. Art helped him to be more attuned to his emotions and helped him express himself. As he started drawing and painting, his Life Coaches at TCIL discovered his artistic talents and selected him to be part of the Special Artist Programme. Today, Shoban is more confident and independent. He even earns an income through the creation and sale of his unique artworks under the JOURNEY brand by TOUCH.

It has been 30 good years of making a difference in the lives of those we serve. Looking ahead, we are excited to partner you as we continue to Inspire Hope and Transform Lives within the community!

As stakeholders of the global community, TOUCH supports the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of ‘Good Health and Well-being’, ‘Quality Education’ and ‘Reduced Inequality’ among others, in our work with vulnerable groups in our local community.
