The Developmental Intervention Service (DIS) by Therapy Hub aims to address both academic skill deficits and underlying cognitive challenges in children and adults. 

We help our clients to improve their daily functioning and learning abilities through a comprehensive range of intervention programmes:

Literacy Intervention Programme
  • An individualised, one-to-one intervention programme to help children build literacy and language skills.
  • Assessment to understand the child’s literacy ability will be conducted before starting the weekly intervention sessions.
  • Adopts a holistic approach which incorporates these strategies:
    • Multisensory teaching strategies
    • Phonics/phonological skills
    • Psychotherapeutic approach (to enhance self-esteem and motivation)
    • Modification of instructional variables (to achieve optimal learning)
Math Intervention Programme
  • An individualised, one-to-one intervention programme to help children who face challenges understanding basic Math concepts.
  • Assessment to understand the child’s Math ability will be conducted before starting the weekly intervention sessions.
  • Adopts a holistic approach which includes these strategies:
    • Multisensory teaching strategies 
    • Concrete-Representational-Approach (CRA) using objects, pictures then symbols
    • Psychotherapeutic approach (to enhance self-esteem and motivation)
    • Modification of instructional variables (to achieve optimal learning)
Neurodevelopment Programme
  • A unique programme that addresses issues related to learning and cognitive functions (e.g. attention, language, sensory processing) by targeting the root cause in terms of brain development.
  • Tailored to individual’s needs using these research-based approaches:
    • Movement (Exercises to stimulate the brain)
    • Cognitive training
    • Dietary strategies
  • Educate parents/caregivers on these approaches and train them to assist their children to carry out the exercises at home.
Consultation

We also work with parents/caregivers to:

  • Assess and evaluate the individual’s learning and behavioural challenges and identify underlying causes.
  • Share insights on learning and behavioural issues.
  • Recommend practical remediation strategies to support and improve the individual’s learning and development.

Children (age 4 and above), adolescents and adults with developmental and learning challenges/delays/disorders including:

  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Dyslexia Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD)
  • Dysgraphia (affecting ability to write)
  • Global Developmental Delay (GDD)
  • Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD)
  • Speech and language delay
  • Poor fine and gross motor skills

 

What to Expect

Our programmes and services are conducted by a team of Intervention Specialists and a Principal Therapist who have the minimum of a degree or specialist diploma in Special Education, Early Childhood Learning Support, and/or Learning Disorders Management. They have experience (more than 10 years) working with children with various learning difficulties and developmental challenges.

Our intervention programmes are provided one-on-one customised to the learning/developmental needs of each child/individual, based on our assessment on the child/individual conducted in the 1st session.
