45-year-old Mr How Hon Fai embodies the spirit of continuous learning and takes pride in doing his best at work. Diagnosed with intellectual disability, Hon Fai joined TOUCH Ubi Hostel (TUH) in 2005 to acquire daily living skills and prepare for employment.
As a stay-in residential programme for adults with mild intellectual disabilities, TUH provides competency-based training to prepare clients for independent living in the community and for open employment.
For Hon Fai, he received occupational guidance on workplace cleaning and learnt how to relate to his colleagues and bosses at the workplace.
This year marks Hon Fai’s 11th year as a cleaner at a church. From vacuuming the hall to wiping down the glass doors, Hon Fai takes pride in his job and does it with joy and dedication.

“I’m glad to be surrounded by friendly colleagues and nice people at work. I especially enjoy making new friends when I join in events,” says Hon Fai, who looks forward to meeting his colleagues at work each day.
As a proud recipient of a long service award last year, Hon Fai also shares his gratitude to his TUH coaches, “I’m thankful for the opportunity to learn at TUH. Whenever I face difficulties, the coaches will give me support and guidance to overcome them.”
