It was a fun day for some 20 residents who signed up for their first lantern painting session on 14 September. With smiles on their faces, many were eager to meet their friends, whom they have not seen for a while with the suspension of activities at TOUCHpoint@AMK 433 due to the Covid-19 outbreak. The weekly two-hour lantern making sessions will be held over the two months in September and October.

Last year, the residents celebrated Mid-Autumn Festival at Gardens by the Bay, where they displayed their beautifully decorated lanterns. This year, they plan to do likewise. Residents were sharing happily with one another about their design ideas as they worked on their lanterns.

“I have been looking forward to the day I can have such activities at TOUCHpoint. For the past few months, I have been feeling so lonely. It just feels so good to be back with my friends,” said 84-year-old Mdm Song Ah Thai.

During such uncertain times, everyone can play a part in uplifting the spirits of a friend, neighbour or loved one. With the recent announcement on the resumption of centre activities, TOUCH intends to initiate more activities with safe distancing measures in place to keep residents connected, engaged and healthy.
